Holiday Cottages Manager - Kerry Baillie
Meet our holiday cottages manager, Kerry Baillie - and find out all the places she loves in West Cornwall
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I moved to Cornwall 38 years ago and thought I had moved to paradise - a feeling that has never left me. I have been fortunate enough to have worked and lived on the iconic St Michael's Mount for many years, before coming to Porthgwarra Cove where I look after our six holiday cottages and the lovely Cove Café.
What makes Porthgwarra Cove special to you?
Meeting the many people who walk the coastal path and visit this special place. If it is their first visit to the cove, it’s great to see the reaction to the place - as it is a very unique spot. The views here are breathtaking no matter what the weather is doing, with each season bringing something different.
We hear that quite a lot of wildlife is spotted in the Cove, what should visitors keep an eye out for?
Cornish Choughs, as well as other rare birds, are definitely spotted in the area - this is a favourite place for bird watchers. If you’re lucky enough you may see a very large stag that appears every so often. Seals and dolphins can be seen frequently around this stretch of coast line too.
What are the top three places you would recommend guests visit while they are in West Cornwall?
Your favourite place to stop for a bite to eat?
Can you recommend a secret spot to watch the sunset?
Can you sum up west Cornwall in three words?
Ever changing beauty.
