St Aubyn Estates
Porthgwarra Cove Café
Porthgwarra Cove Cafe is located right in the heart of the cove and is a great spot to stop when walking the South West Coast Path.
The café is open 7 days a week
Mon - Fri, 10am - 3pm
Sat and Sun, 10am - 4pm
There have been some essential changes made to how we operate, to ensure the safety of our team and customers.
We have a glass screen at the door to the cafe, and ask customers to adhere to a 2-metre distance between other customers when queuing. Card payments are preferred but cash will be accepted.
The cafe is running a reduced menu and pre-orders are welcomed. Please call 01736 871754 to pre-order.
Please note that the Public Toilets in the Cove will remain closed.
Porthgwarra Cove has been mentioned by Aidan Turner (star of Poldark) in several interviews, as it stayed open during an all-night filming session, serving pasties to the crew and stars of the show. Porthgwarra was also the location of the now-famous ‘swimming scene’.
There is a beautiful garden and ample parking (pay and display ticket can be bought in the café). It’s ideally situated for walkers due to its location on the South West Coastal Path. Alternatively, skip the walk and enjoy the treats whilst watching the waves roll by the cove. The area is also a popular spot with bird watchers, and every day the wildlife and birds that have been spied in the area are noted on the café chalkboard.
The Café is an important hub for St Aubyn Estates Holidays guests. Porthgwarra Cafe Supervisor, Ashleigh, can be found at the café on most days. The team look forward to welcoming you to the café, where there is always a complimentary coffee or tea offered to our guests upon arrival.
“The team at Porthgwarra work hard so it remains one of the most beautiful places to visits. You can hear other visitors to Porthgwarra say how lovely it is there. We are pleased to stay at Porthgwarra and thank the team for keeping it unspoilt and beautiful.”
